ABIM President Ahmad Fahmi Mohd Samsudin stated that products marketed under names like "Piu Piu" and "Magic Mushroom" are no longer isolated incidents. Instead, they represent a systemic effort by drug syndicates to adapt their distribution methods to match youth lifestyles.
Rising Arrests Expose Evolving Drug Distribution
Data from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Narcotics Crime Investigation Department highlights the rapid growth of this illicit market. Syndicates increasingly use liquid vape formulas to conceal, distribute, and facilitate the consumption of illegal synthetic substances among teenagers.

ABIM Demands Swift Cabinet Action
While welcoming the Health Ministry's initial steps toward banning vaping—particularly open-system devices—ABIM insists the policy must be brought before the Cabinet without delay to protect public health.
"The government must urgently bring the matter to the Cabinet for a decision and announce a clear timeline, implementation mechanism and transition plan leading to a total ban on vaping," Ahmad Fahmi said in an official statement.

For teenagers already affected by these synthetic substances, ABIM advocates for supportive measures rather than criminalization or social stigmatization.
