A new study by Haypp has revealed that nearly seven in 10 UK nicotine pouch users adopted the product to quit smoking, vaping, or both. This shift comes as tightening British regulations on disposable vapes drive adult consumers toward non-inhaled nicotine alternatives.
The latest Nicotine Pouch Report, which surveyed over 2,000 UK customers and analyzed purchasing data from 50,000 consumers, highlights a growing demand for oral nicotine. The data shows a near-even split between those escaping traditional cigarettes and those moving away from e-cigarettes.

The transition has yielded highly positive health feedback, with 95% of users reporting they feel better after switching. Additionally, 76% of respondents have recommended pouches to other smokers. Consumers also highly value the product's versatility, reporting regular use at home (85%), at work (79%), and while socializing (69%).
Dr. Marina Murphy, senior director of scientific affairs at Haypp, noted that the UK market is undergoing a massive transition following the disposable vape ban and the implementation of the Tobacco and Vapes Act. "For many adult nicotine users, nicotine pouches are replacing products that involve inhalation," Murphy explained.
Murphy pointed to Sweden, which recently achieved official "smoke-free" status with a regular smoking rate below 5%, as a prime example of success. Sweden’s long-standing tradition of oral smokeless nicotine has been directly linked to its historically low rates of smoking and lung cancer, offering a viable pathway for the UK's public health goals.
