VELO makes 4-gram dry mini nicotine pouches derived from tobacco. The cans contain 20 pouches and have a two-part lid for storing used pouches. They offer 8 flavors across three nicotine concentrations - 2 mg, 4 mg, and 6 mg.
You can purchase VELO pouches on their site, various online stores, and at smoke shops typically for around $5 per can.
Overview of VELO Pouches
One thing that sets VELO apart is the wider range of flavor and strength options compared to competitors. I'll review some of the standout flavors, but they also offer wintergreen, spearmint, peppermint, and cinnamon.
The flavors are light to medium in saturation. The pouches provide a nice 20-25 minutes of flavor before needing to be changed out.
Notable VELO Pouch Flavors
Here are some short reviews of my favorite VELO pouch flavors after trying their lineup:
Coffee
Upon opening my first can of the coffee VELO pouches, I'm greeted by delicious aromas of toasted coffee beans and cream. The fragrance reminds me of freshly brewed black coffee.
I place one pouch in my mouth. The initial coffee taste is smooth yet robust, like a medium roast coffee with hints of nuttiness. As the pouch moistens over 20 minutes, the deep coffee flavor persists with an almost smoky quality. It has a pleasant lingering finish as if I just sipped a coffee.
Dragon Fruit
While sniffing a Dragon Fruit VELO pouch, I smell sweet tropical notes of mango, papaya and faint florals. However, the flavor is less discernible when placed in my mouth. I mostly taste sweet fruits with a little tang but not distinctly dragon fruit.
After a few minutes, the tropical flavor balances out into more of a general exotic fruit medley. It makes my mouth water with nice fruit juiciness. I enjoy it even if I can't exactly pinpoint the dragon fruit taste. A safe tropical fruit option.
Citrus Burst
I open the can excited for this bright-sounding citrus pouch. Plopping it in my mouth, I get a satisfying tart orange flavor immediately as it spreads across my tongue.
Unlike most citrus pouches with generic sour tastes, these capture authentic bold blood orange notes. The zesty orange lasts throughout the 30 minutes with nice sweet citrusy tinges. One of my favorites for when I want something refreshing.
Black Cherry
As soon as I open a can of Black Cherry VELO, a lovely sweet, almost perfume-like cherry floral fragrance flows out. I place a pouch in expecting similar flavors. Initially I taste more general red berries than specifically cherry.
But after a few minutes of parking, juicy cherry burst open with a little tart cherry skin twang. It transitions into a remarkably authentic black cherry taste - capturing the different flavor layers you get when eating real cherries.
Overall VELO Pouch Experience
I prefer the 2 mg or 4 mg strength VELO pouches rather than 6 mg since I'm not a heavy user. But the multiple strengths and flavors allow you to really dial in your preferences.
The plastic cans feel cheap but work fine. Just need to be careful when opening not to fling out used pouches stored in the lid.
If you prioritize variety of flavors and nicotine levels over extreme nicotine strength, VELO nicotine pouches are worth trying. The standout flavors for me are Coffee, Citrus Burst, and Black Cherry.
